Lighting, Sound, and Media Design
Projection designer for I’m Connecticut
Welcome to Greg Purnell Design. Greg Purnell is a 7th semester BFA student at the University of Connecticut, where he happily studies design and technical theatre—specifically lighting, sound and digital design. He has designed and assisted many professional productions ranging from lighting to sound to projections to scenic and animation for video. He always brings fresh, original ideas and dedication to his work.
Having worked in multiple regional theatres in the New York-New England area, Greg is also a successful stagehand and technician for the theatre. He has an expanded knowledge of AutoDesk AutoCAD, Nemetchek VectorWorks, drafting, rigging, advanced networking, carpentry, electrics, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, and Dataton Watchout. He is able to program the MA Lighting GrandMA as well as all ETC consoles including the EOS/ION, Obsession and Express. His ability to learn quickly and think logically fuels his passion for solving problems and exploring new challenges.
Greg’s flexible schedule and close proximity to New York City allows him to pursue outside work and expand his repertoire even during the school semester. On the side, Greg is an avid photographer. He shoots not only for leisure but is also available for production photographs and other events. In the past, he has participated in a Project 365 Photo-A-Day project. For fun, Greg enjoys kayaking, rock climbing, waffles, technology, animation, and traveling to distant worlds.
